James is a Clinical Director in the practice. He qualified with commendation from Liverpool University in 1996 and went on to work in a mixed practice veterinary hospital before joining Martin and Carr in 1999. Since then, he has worked hard to develop the surgical and orthopaedic side of the practice, as this is where his main interest lies.
He did not give up study. In 2009 James gained a general practitioner qualification in surgery, and in 2016 completed his certificate of advanced veterinary practice (Cert AVP) with speciality in small animal surgery. James is now registered as an RCVS advanced practitioner in general small animal surgery. He also does some teaching and assessment of other vets studying for the advanced veterinary practice qualification at Liverpool university.
James is married, has a young daughter and a Jack Russell cross called Mitzi who he inherited from a neighbour. He enjoys taking them on holidays in his 1974 VW Camper, provided he can keep it running. He is a keen gardener and has a greenhouse full of chilli and tomato plants.
